“Sun & Moon (Obsidian)”
A new contemporary sculpture design by Thomas Studios’ owner Shaun Thomas. This particular set is titled, “Sun & Moon (Obsidian).” The Sun & Moon collection is made up of mixed mediums and each set is completely different. Mr. Thomas is obsessed with wood. He created this particular set using a couple of his favorite species of wood. To be specific, the wood species include Macassar Ebony, (the darker wood) Walnut Burl, (medium wood) and 2 different cuts of Koa (strip of wood running across both pieces and bordering the piece). Each piece measures in at 36″x36″ giving it a total dimension of 76″ wide x 36″ tall. A thick resin finish is applied, sanded and buffed for a showroom gloss coat. This is a must see in person. Check out Shaun Thomas’ full line of “Sun & Moon” Contemporary Sculptures.
- Size: 76″ x 36″ total

Black Walnut Slab Dining Room Table
Measuring in at 94″x45″, this massive custom Black Walnut wood slab dining room table couldn’t be a better fit for one of our recent Interior Design jobs here along the cliff-side of South Laguna Beach, California. All the open crevices and cracks were filled with a black resin, sanded and coated with a satin finish. We took off a few inches from both sides bringing the piece to more of a rectangular shape while keeping the edges as natural as possible. This unique slab is not only a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece, it is very functional.
Not pictured is the matching Black Walnut wood slab bench. We’ll have updated photos soon with images of the complete project including new hand-blown glass pendant lights, Designer Chairs, Artwork and more. Check back in with us soon for more photos.

“Tide Pool Kraken” with “Strand of Life”
A special commission by a private party who donated the works to the city of Laguna Beach, “Tide Pool Kraken” by Laguna Beach artist Casey Parlette features an octopus perched on a mass of stones facing the “Strand of Life”, a limestone from France shaped into a bench with a carved fish on top mimicking a halibut in the sand. The bronze kelp backing with hidden abalone represents a family tree. In the same way the kelp connects all the elements of the bench, this sculpture connects family members from the past with present and future generations.
This installation is located along one of the most popular coastlines in Laguna Beach – the north end of Heisler park on the bluff overlooking Divers Cove. The goal of this piece was to celebrate Laguna’s coastal ecology.
- Size: 6′ X 3.5′ X 3.5′ (octopus on rocks) / 7.5′ X 3′ X 3′ (bench)
- Material: Bronze, limestone
- Method: Hammered, forged, welded, carved

``HOKUA`` - Wood Wave Sculpture
Hawaiian sunsets are known for being vibrant and drenched in color and depth, a tropical dance of hues and luminescence. When those colors play and perform over crystal-clear water, casting reflections of absolute grandeur, all there’s left to feel is awe. That’s part of what inspires pieces like these. This wooden abstract wave art piece measures in at 45″x30″ and titled, “HOKUA“. It’s part of Shaun Thomas’ line of coastal inspired wood wave sculptures. It was the perfect fit for the clients dream home on the island of Oahu.

Kelp Forest Sculpture
This private residence custom commissioned sculpture by artist Casey Parlette displays a school of Calico Bass swimming through a kelp forest. This piece was designed to provide a flow and an artistic focal point to the large stairway. The scale of the stairway and its walls necessitated a large sculpture; the final piece measured over 30 feet long and 20 feet high, built in sections to connect seamlessly together. A favorite aspect of is the overhead section that curves between the walls, giving it the necessary sense of flow and dimensional dynamic that makes the entire structure feel as though it is in motion.
- Size: 30′ X 20′
- Material: Shedua wood, bronze
- Method: Carved, forged, welded
